An Elder Speaks
Our Influence
by Jack Smith
June 6, 2004
As Christians every step of the way we are consciously or
unconsciously exerting an influence upon those we come in
contact with.
The apostle Paul said it this way: “For none of us liveth to
himself, and no man dieth to himself.” (Romans 14:7)
Whether we realize it or not, many are unconsciously depending
upon the influence of Christians. You may think you have no
influence, but you cannot go wrong in one little act without
leading others astray.
When we’re late for bible school or worship, when we hang our
in the foyers, when we talk in service, trust me, someone
notices. God’s word says none of us liveth to himself. Truly,
we influence others and are influenced by others. Peter said,
“I go a fishing.” Then the other disciples said, “we also go
with thee.: ( John 21:3)
Hosea said, “And there shall be, like people, like priest.”
(Hosea 4:9) The ten faithless spies “made the heart of the
people melt.” Josh. 14:8 Numbers 13:26-14:5.
So let us continue have a positive influence on those we come
in contact with.
