An Elder Speaks
Our Walk With God
By Jack Smith

Let us think of the beauty of the following words: “And Enoch
walked with God: an he was not; for God took him.” (Gen.
5:;24) For Enoch to walk with God, they had to be of one
accord (agreement). With Enoch walking with God, it most
certainly suggest harmony, agreement, concord, fellowship and
companionship.
If we are obedient to God, and doing His will certainly
suggest being in harmony with Him. In Amos 3: 3 the question
is asked: “Can two walk together, except they be agreed? Can
we walk with God if we don not agree with Him?”
The apostle Paul teaches the same great lesson in 2 Cor. 6:
14-16 when he ask the following questions: “What communion
hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with
Belial? (or Satan)? Or what part hath he that believeth with
an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with
idols? For ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath
said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be
their God, and they shall be my people.” We must understand
that we must be in concord and agreement with God if we are to
walk with him. Rom. 8:1 points out: There is therefore now
no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk
not after the flesh, but after the spirit.
Jesus said “If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where
I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me,
him will my father honor.
So let us follow Jesus and therefore we walk with God.
