An Elder Speaks
Jesus is the Apostle and High Priest of Our Profession

“Wherefore, holy brethren partakers of the heavenly calling,
consider the Apostle and High Priest of our Profession, Jesus
Christ” (Heb. 3:1)
“The Apostle and High Priest of out confession, even Jesus.”
Nowhere else in scripture is the title Apostle” (Heb. 3:1)
applied to Christ. Apostle fits the office of our Lord as the
official messenger from heaven, since the primary meaning of
the word is “one sent or commissioned for some important
communication. The old testament prophecy named Jesus “The
messenger of the covenant” (Mal. 3:1) Jesus referred to this
Phase of his work as, “ The Father that sent me, he hath
given me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should
speak” (John 12:49) As Apostle is also the person sending is
greater in dignity than the one sent. It was only in his
human nature that the lessen dignity of “Apostle” could be
imputed to Christ because in Jesus' eternal nature, Jesus was
equal to God (Phil. 2:6).
Jesus was the Apostle of the Father, and has given to
mankind. The new covenant. Every covenant must have a priest
and a prophet. One to declare the will of God and the other
to minister in holy things.
Moses was the apostle under the old testament, and Aaron was
the priest. When Moses was removed, and the prophets
succeeded him. The sons of Aaron were the priests after the
death of their father. Office of the high priest pertained
only to Aaron. Christ was all that Moses was, and more.
Christ was also a High Priest.
