Tip: God Guides
Often times, Christians feel that they need
to have a lot of scriptures memorized in order to be able to teach someone
the truth in the gospel of Christ. After weeks or years of hearing
powerful Sunday preaching in which scriptures are quoted, our tendency is
to think that quoting scriptures is an effective way of teaching an
individual (or to get a point across). However, we must realize that
sometimes when a scripture is quoted verbally it is viewed as "your
opinion or in your interpretation". Individuals should always read from
their own bible what God has to say. Then the authority or source can be
recognized as coming from God and not you or your opinion.
Let us become familiar with our bibles.
Utilize high-lighters to help you find your way to the scriptures that you
might need. In Acts 8, the Ethiopian eunuch was asked as to whether he
understood the scriptures that he was reading. His reply was, "How can I
except some man should guide me?". Then Phillip began at the same
scripture that the eunuch was reading and guided him through the
scriptures. Remember that we are merely guides through God's word.
